Peer Support

Our School has been operating this very worthwhile student welfare program for 12-14years.

The whole school participates in Peer Support for 30 mins each week during Term 2. Two or three Year 6 Peer Support Leaders facilitate a small group of 8-10 students from kindergarten to Year 5, who work together through a number of structured activities. Each teacher will supervise 2-3 groups in their classrooms. The new module Taking Opportunities which focuses on resilience. The experiences presented in the module help children develop skills to identify their strengths, celebrate their achievements and seek assistance when faced with challenges.

Topics are sequentially treated, with the Year 6's preparation taking place in class each week, prior to the lesson.

The Peer Support Program promotes the following outcomes:

  • Skills necessary to make informed decisions
  • Life skills
